The Chartreux cat makes an excellent gentle pet, which loves to be fussed. It rarely meows but has a sweet small discreet voice to draw your attention to its needs. It gets on well with other cats and even dogs.

Choose the male in preference over the female in a family situation or for children. He is generally more loving and forgiving. He loves to lie on his back with his paws in the air waiting for you to tickle his tummy. Consider rather the female if you live alone. She is more independent than the male but has more character with her coquettish ways.
